Swedish Islamic School Network Accused of Embezzling Millions; Leaders Flee Abroad
-
Investigations reveal potential misuse of over 1 billion SEK in public education funds.
A network of Islamic schools in Sweden, reportedly connected to Islamist organizations, is facing serious allegations of financial misconduct. Investigations indicate that the group may have embezzled over 1 billion Swedish kronor from public education and welfare funds.
Key figures implicated include Abdirizak Waberi, Abdel Nasser El Nadi, and “Abo Raad”. Authorities allege that they used fake invoices and financial schemes to divert funds to private accounts and foreign organizations, including Somalia and Malta.
Following the exposure of the scandal, some of the school leaders reportedly fled Sweden, leaving behind millions in unpaid taxes and unresolved debts. Swedish economic crime authorities are actively investigating the network for complex fraud and financial irregularities.
Several schools have been closed by inspectors, and security agencies have highlighted concerns about possible extremist links among certain administrators. Officials stress that while the allegations are severe, investigations are ongoing, and legal confirmation of all claims has not yet been completed.
This case has sparked national debate about oversight of private schools and the management of public funds intended for education.
